Week in Review

September 4, 2009

Well, the first week is over, and here are the stats:

An average home school day took 1 hour of actual school time.

7 Math worksheets completed (a major feat since I didn’t think AlphaBoy would sit still long enough to do one.)

8 pages in the Five in a Row portfolio.

1 page of handwriting letters.

As I piece together the products of the week, the volume is reassuring – we did a lot.  We even cooked a Chinese meal to go along with our Literature Unit!  But as I place the pages in their folders and notebooks, I see that they reflect more of my presentation and aesthetic sense than AlphaBoy’s learning and ownership.

For example:  He has no idea that he has a Five in a Row Portfolio!

Hmm.   Goal for next week:  Give him more ownership of the creative portions of the lessons.
